Overview

Restoran Sri Karak stands out in Bandar Baru Petaling Jaya as a spot that blends familiar flavors with a touch of local charm. Located at 17, Jalan 52/8, this eatery offers a diverse menu highlighted by signature dishes like the Sri Karak King Prawn Noodle and the richly spiced Curry Mee. For fans of durian, their Durian ABC, Musang King Durian selections, and innovative durian puffs and bombs bring a delightful twist that complements the traditional items such as Yong Chow Fried Rice and Beef Fried Koay Teow.

The space reflects an old-style, comfortable setting that attracts a steady flow of both regulars and newcomers alike. While the ambiance leans towards relaxed and chill, some patrons have noted that the air conditioning struggles to combat the warm Malaysian climate at peak hours. This contributes to a casual yet slightly nostalgic dining experience where you can enjoy a mix of Halal Chinese cuisine and local favorites.

Service here is attentive, with staff who know the menu well and offer guidance to diners. However, the pace can be slow, especially during busy lunch hours, which might require a patient approach if you’re pressed for time. The crowd tends to be a mix of families, office workers, and locals looking for comfort food with authentic flavors.

Food-wise, the restaurant hits a middle ground. Signature dishes like the Sang Har Noodles and Seafood Fried Noodles showcase fresh ingredients and balanced flavors, while side dishes like Braised Bean Curd and Ladies Fingers in Oyster Sauce offer comforting textures. The desserts, particularly the ABC and cendol enriched with gula melaka syrup, remain enduring favorites.

Overall, Restoran Sri Karak appeals to those who value straightforward, homestyle meals served in a familiar and unpretentious environment. It is an inviting choice for anyone eager to explore Malaysian Chinese dishes with a Halal assurance, in a setting that honors tradition, both in its food and atmosphere.

To me, food is just average. Price is not cheap but still affordable. Quite alot of patrons during lunch. The environment is quite old style and comfortable. Have air conditioners but feel sweaty, probably because of the hot weather recently. For 3 people with 3 dishes plus some desserts, it costed around RM100 plus.

This is my first time trying this restaurant, and everything here is okay. Food: Overall, the food tastes good. I highly recommend their yam basket, it's ! The Penang char kew teow and yongchow fried rice are also tasty. ⏳ Serving time: OMG, the service is very slow. Even the drinks took a while to arrive. Food lagi la slow Ambience: The ambiance is quite chill and relaxing.

I was told the food here is good. Came for dinner during the weekend and it was not very crowded. Most seemed to be regular customers who spoke warmly with the waiters. The food is average and didn't impress me much. But I did enjoy the ABC and cendol. They are generous with the gula melaka syrup.

The Sang Har noodles were delicious, though a bit pricey—I ordered the small portion with prawn. The asam sotong and kangkung belacan were not bad either. I went during lunch, and the place was quite busy and noisy, mainly because there was an uncle singing outside the shop. No offense—the singing was okay, but personally, I prefer a quieter dining environment.

This is a compressed version of the original restaurant in Karak. The single dishes are on the pricier side starting at RM16 per plate but for an aircond seating its understandable. Food quality is pretty good although it looks strangely quiet most of the time. You can also try out some pastries while you're here.
